Galavanta designs travel itineraries for high net-worth individuals primarily from England, United States, Canada, and France. We work with our clients to modify the itinerary until we jointly achieve the perfect blend of luxury, adventure, cultural immersion and relaxation. Our extensive knowledge of Colombia enables us to handpick the best hotels, restaurants, experiences, private transportation, and support personnel based on guests’ preferences. We also collaborate with topic experts (historians, archeologists, artists, chefs), jet and helicopter companies, and private properties to provide our guests with one-of-a-kind experiences. We then meticulously coordinate every detail of the travel logistics to guarantee a perfect trip.

Galavanta was founded by two McGill University MBA graduates, who were originally born and raised in Colombia and France. We’re currently recruiting staff for our new amazing project in Los Llanos! It will see the opening of the first private camp of its kind in Colombia, inspired by African-style luxury Safari. Our guests will experience a comfortable and exclusive stay in the beautiful natural setting of Los Llanos, where they will discover a variety of activities related to the sighting of wildlife, adventure, Llanero “cowboy” work and culture.

CAMP ADMINISTRATOR

What you’ll do:

The camp administrator will be responsible for the complete supervision of the operation in the camp, the management of the staff and the experience of the guest. You will live in the camp located two hours from Yopal, Casanare and will serve as the main point of contact for guests, employees and suppliers.

Responsibilities:

Customer experience
• Responsible of the guest experience: excellent customer service, personalized attention and special requests
• Check-in & check-out
• Receive requests, plan, organize and supervise the activities in which the guests will participate
• Coordinate with chef and team: menus, special requests, dietary restrictions, and gastronomic experiences
• Follow-up and attention to comments and / or complaints from guests

General
• Inventory
• Supervision of maintenance of the infrastructure and equipments of the camp, including tents, furniture, plumbing, electricity and vehicles
• Develop a program for the maintenance of infrastructure and equipment
• Environmental responsibility: follow the guidelines of the camp in the responsible use of firewood, ecological disposal of waste and respect for the ecosystem
• Manage the operating budget and petty cash
• Write reports on operation, maintenance and guest experience
• Develop strategies that allow an improvement in quality and service indicators
• Responsible for the well-being of all guests, staff and camp assets by creating and implementing the necessary processes

External relations
• Communication and relationship management (as required) with conservation representatives, community representatives and experts
• Develop relationships with local suppliers

Staff
• Lead the team made up with host, chef, butler, guides, housekeeper and maintenance
• Implement training programs

What you’ll need:

• Languages: fluent English (spoken and written), any other language is an added value
• Experience in hotel management and customer service
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
• Strong capacity to make decisions and delegate
• Superior organization and time management skills
• Ability to manage and receive constructive comments from clients and employees
• Leadership and teamwork, conflict resolution and good human resources management

EXECUTIVE CHEF

What you’ll do:

The Executive Chef is responsible for the culinary development of the project. He has the mission to create, design and execute both the gastronomic proposal and all the processes of elaboration, creation of base recipes, and costing of the operation.
He is responsible for researching and managing suppliers, giving priority to local suppliers and the quality of the raw material.
A candidate will stand our for his knowledge of local and international cuisine, creativity, and ability to adapt to changing work environment.

Responsibilities:

• Create a food and beverages offering
• Create standard recipes and determine the operation and production costs for f&b
• Choose the ingredients for food preparation and supervise the procurement, conservation and quality of supplies
• Research and management of suppliers
• Design the kitchen and storage area, including making budget of materials necessary for continuous operation
• Organize the materials, utensils and equipment necessary
• Establish the functions of the F&B staff
• Train the kitchen staff
• Prepare and cook according to the customer’s orders and special requests
• Supervise the cleanliness of the kitchens
• Supervise the storage and inventory of supplies
• Management of the food and beverage area, complying with food safety standards

What you’ll need:

• Ability to cook in a basic kitchen or outdoors, and with firewood or charcoal.
• Experience in administration and customer service
• Excellent interpersonal communication skills
• Superior organization and time management skills
• Ability to manage and receive constructive comments from clients and employees

• Observation capacity

TRAVEL DESIGNER

Where and how:

• Full-time employment in Cartagena (Centro)
• Possibility of working remotely when necessary
• Possibility of travelling to Bogota and other destinations in Colombia

What you’ll do:

• Correspond with new and existing clients during the travel design process (via email and telephone)
• Develop a quote for each itinerary with Galavanta’s pricing tools
• Design client’s itineraries: write the itinerary details, allocate relevant photos, establish timing of activities, etc.
• Assist the Logistics Team by overseeing the implementation of each client’s itinerary logistics

What you’ll need:

• Excellent spoken and written English
• Outgoing personality and excellent customer service skills
• Familiarity with Colombia’s top travel destinations
• Passion for travelling, and an interest in topics such as nature, adventure, gastronomy, culture, history and/or art
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
• Ability to problem solve and multitask
• Excellent disposition, teamwork/interpersonal skills, and positive attitude
• Ability to think outside the box to generate creative and innovative ideas for travel experiences, and means to increase sales and profitability
• Self-motivated individual who can take initiative and manage projects start-to-finish
• Knowledge of additional languages (i.e. French, Portuguese, German, etc.) is an asset

TRAVEL LOGISTICS COORDINATOR

Where and how:

• Full-time employment in Cartagena (Centro)
• Possibility of working remotely when necessary
• Possibility of travelling to Bogota and other destinations in Colombia

What you’ll do:

• Foster relationships with current service providers and research new providers across the country
• Coordinate the details of each itinerary with service providers (i.e. hotels, transportation, topic experts)
• Confirm the precise execution of each experience with service providers
• Receive requests and coordinate logistics for experiences in Cartagena
• Communicate with clients from local hotels and confirm the details of experiences in Cartagena
• Day-to-day tasks at the office (i.e. printing and mailing items, purchasing suppplies, bringing equipment and supplies to clients, etc.)

What you’ll need:

• Outstanding organization skills and attention to detail
• Basic spoken and written English
• Outgoing personality and excellent customer service skills
• Passion for travelling, and an interest in topics such as nature, adventure, gastronomy, culture, history and/or art
• Ability to problem solve and multitask
• Excellent disposition, teamwork/interpersonal skills, and positive attitude
• Ability to think outside the box to generate creative and innovative ideas for travel experiences, and means to increase sales and profitability
